UNW Students Take The Stage!

The 2023 UNW Theatre One Act Festival is underway! This festival will present 14 different one-act plays directed and produced by students! 14 theatre majors took Advanced Directing class where they got an in-depth look at how to direct a play. Their final was to write a play analysis on a ten-minute play of their choosing and to hold auditions and direct the show at the One Act Festival.

“I learned so much about what it takes to direct a show, I think I have a whole new perspective on theatre because of this experience!”

-Jon Haven (Student director)

In April the directors held auditions and casted students for their plays. They then held rehearsals to give blocking and help actors memorize lines. Performances for the one acts are May 3rd-6th in the Patsy Miller Studio Theatre. The student directors also serve as ushers, house managers, run crew, and concessions sellers to make the environment completely student-run and collaborative.
