The weekend is right around the corner, and while it’s a great time to get some homework finished, events around campus and the Twin Cities could be a fun break from studying. Take advantage of the beautiful early fall weather to spend some time outside before jumping back into homework. At a loss for what to do? Here are a few different ideas.
CORE and GLE are hosting a movie night from 8:00-10:00 p.m. on the campus green this Friday, September 24. They will be showing the musical In the Heights for LatinX Heritage Month. Students are encouraged to bring a blanket, and snacks will be provided. This is a great way to kick-off the weekend.
UNW Commuter Life is inviting all students, whether commuters or not, to join them to attend the MN United FC match this Saturday, September 25, at the Allianz field at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are limited, so find some friends and head to @unwcommuterlife’s bio on Instagram to purchase tickets. Commuters, be sure to follow so you can stay up to date on the exciting opportunities commuter life has planned for this year!
Instead of going to the grocery store to stock up on your favorite study snacks, attend Grocery Bingo on Monday, September 27. CORE will be hosting Grocery Bingo from 7:00-10:00 p.m. in the Robertson Student Center lobby. This is a great way to pick up some free groceries while hanging out with friends.
If you can get off campus, the weekend is the perfect time to explore the area. There are several events happening around the Twin Cities that are a great way to kick-off the fall season. Christian music group, Needtobreathe, will be performing at The Armory in Minneapolis this Friday, September 24, along with Switchfoot and The New Respects. There are still some tickets available, so take advantage of the opportunity to hear this phenomenal group of musicians.
The Minnesota Twins have baseball games everyday this weekend. Games start at various times throughout the weekend at the Target Field in Minneapolis. If you are a baseball fan, this would be a fun opportunity to watch your favorite sport. Even if you are not into baseball, this could be some good quality time with friends.
To celebrate the first few days of fall and fall weather, find some friends to go to the Twin Cities Harvest Festival and Maze, happening everyday now through October 31 in Brooklyn Park. They have numerous favorite fall activities, including a corn maze, pumpkin patch, food trucks, and much more. Only about twenty minutes from campus, this would be a great break from homework and a wonderful way to spend some time outside. So however you enjoy the rest of your week and weekend, be sure to spend some time outside with friends, soaking in the new season.
