8 a.m. Professor Chris Allen kicks off his Quad 2 class, Christian Thinking and Living. The students slowly and hesitantly drag themselves into his classroom and space themselves out in the large lecture hall. The student vibe is that of groggy, under-expectation.
Ordinary lecture halls become beautiful spaces
when filled with heavenward hearts.
The lecture commences and all eyes glue to the professor. The gospel suddenly becomes tangible and accessible for Christian and non-Christian alike. Spiritual growth is encouraged with unique analogies. Allen drives home the fact that “the gospel [that] enters our lives like the point of an arrow” and so, so crucial to Christian development. The idea of keeping Scripture central to life becomes fresh and profound.

The depth of a person’s knowledge became insignificant. Rather, the understanding that the basics of the Bible save souls is preached and well received in this groggy 8 a.m. class. Students leave class upbeat stating, “it won’t be too hard to get up for this class!” Professor Allen has already made an impact on his new students.
