As the chilly weather creeps in and the pumpkin spice pandemic takes over once again, fall excursions of fun are a must for students who are ready for a break from work and school. From hand-turkeys to apple orchards, here’s some great ideas to try out this fall season.
1) Apple orchards
An iconic, traditional way to spend your time outside in the fall weather before dreaded Minnesota winter envelops the ground and we can no longer feel our faces. “I love apple orchards during fall, it’s probably one of my favorite things because it’s one of my birthday traditions every year. I love getting fresh apples and apple cider and caramel apples, those are some of my favorite things to get.” – Jasmine Sixel, University of Northwestern Freshman Pick some apples, eat apple treats, take pictures of the scenery, and more!
2) Coffee shop hunting
Being in proximity to the Twin Cities, there is never a shortage of cafes and restaurants that are the perfect places to study and get your pumpkin spice on. Explore some cafes the Cities have to offer!
3) Football
Football season is on and active every weekday night and Sunday afternoon! Anticipate games throughout the week and spend some time out of the cold with family and friends.
4) Pumpkin patches & carving
Pumpkin patches are everywhere in the outskirts of the metropolitan area and are a great friend and family activity. You can find many pumpkin patches at local apple orchards as well to get the perfect pumpkin to carve, and even bake the seeds!
5) Corn mazes
What screams fall fun more than visiting a corn maze with friends. There are plenty of opportunities to explore located just outside of the Twin Cities. A mildly physical activity, corn mazes allow for some outside fun in the pleasant, crisp weather. Autumn presents a plethora more of activities to enjoy inside and outside. Take advantage of the fun seasonal activities and participate in them!
