With the cold weather and limited daylight, it’s important to schedule events and activities that will bring you joy and warmth. All of the ideas provided are budget-conscious and great for a group of friends!

Topgolf – Brooklyn Center (10 miles from campus)

Topgolf is a great alternative to traditional golf that can truly be for everyone. It features outdoor bays with heated vents to keep you warm during the winter season. Bay rentals range between $41-$65 per hour for a reservation for four, and between one and twelve people can play in one reservation.

Cocoa Flake – Robbinsdale (14 miles from campus)

This chocolate shop offers beautiful handmade, hand-painted chocolates. Luci Fischer, a Robbinsdale local, says, “It’s so important to support small businesses today. It sounds like the perfect place to visit during the winter season.” This location is a great option for any group of people looking to buy a sweet treat from a small business.

Duke’s on 7 – Minnetonka (22 miles from campus)

This classic American restaurant features an outdoor igloo experience that elevates typical dining. While definitely on the spendy side (minimum $150 to reserve an igloo), parties of up to eight people are accepted, bringing the minimum per-person cost down to just under $19. Overall, it sounds like a memorable, worthwhile experience!

No matter how you spend these winter months, it’s important to value spending time with others above all else. These suggestions are just meant to help inspire ideas for creating joyful moments during the colder season.
