Salt Company’s 2024 Kickoff event at Allianz field
In the heart of St. Paul, something remarkable has been underway with Salt Company. What began as a small student-led initiative has blossomed into a thriving hub for worship, engagement, and faith exploration- and this is only the beginning.
The Origins
Salt Company was founded in 2010 at Iowa State University, where a group of about 70 college students sought to deepen their faith during a pivotal time in their lives. As word spread, the worship group quickly grew to become the largest organization on campus, boasting over 500 attendees. The mission: to extend its reach across the Midwest.
In recent years, Salt Company has made significant strides in its expansion, culminating in the annual Salt Company National Conference, which attracted over 3,000 students this year.
“It’s about finding a great community. It’s better to go through challenges with others rather than alone. Your faith should be your number one priority.” – Olivia Anselment, a student from Northwestern St. Paul, shared her insights for those looking to strengthen their faith.
Worship at Salt Company
Salt Company hosts weekly worship services every Thursday at 8 p.m. at Summit Church in St. Paul. These gatherings provide vibrant worship experiences where students can connect with one another and grow spiritually. Typically, attendees are college students aged 18-22 from the St. Paul and Minneapolis area, representing universities like Northwestern, Bethel, Hamline, Macalester, UW-River Falls, and Crown College.
In addition to weekly services, Salt Company organizes various events throughout the academic year, including freshman day, conferences, and baptism worship parties. These gatherings offer fantastic opportunities for students to build friendships and integrate into new circles, all rooted in their shared faith.

Salt Company is making a significant impact in the St. Paul community, fostering student fellowship and a deeper connection with God. Summit Church, now the third venue to host Salt Company gatherings, reflects the growing attendance and the need for larger spaces to accommodate this vibrant community. At the University of Northwestern, we wholeheartedly encourage all students to participate in the transformative experiences offered by Salt Company events. These gatherings provide an excellent opportunity to deepen your relationship with Jesus while building connections with others who share your faith.
