The University of Northwestern Theater is proud to present its first musical of the 2024-2025 season: Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn! Directed by Jennifer Hunter, this beloved classic is fun for the whole family, featuring a heartwarming story full of singing, dancing, comedy, and of course, romance.

Holiday Inn follows Jim Hardy, a singer-writer, who tires of the show business and leaves in hopes of settling down in a farmhouse in Connecticut. But the farm is just a little too settling for Jim as he begins to miss his past life filled with song and dance. That’s when Linda Mason, a school teacher with a talent for showbiz, enters into his life. Together, Linda and Jim transform a farmhouse into a showplace hotel where they celebrate each holiday with a performance.

“There are SO MANY fun dances in the show! Jazz dance, ballroom, baton twirling, jump roping, and my favorite, tap dance! Audiences are going to be blown away by all the amazing things happening onstage.” Belle, and many others, get to dance to some of Irving Berlin’s famous hits, such as “Blue Skies,” “Easter Parade,” “Steppin’ Out With My Baby,” “Heat Wave,” and “White Christmas”.

– Belle Waggoner, an actor in UNW’s Holiday Inn, shares that her favorite aspect of the show is the dancing.

Holiday Inn opened at UNW on October 31 and has been a hit! The musical will run until November 9 at the Beverly and John Knight Performance Hall. Tickets can be found online at unwtickets.com or by calling the box office at 651.631.5151.

Come join us for a fun-filled night, one that is sure to “Shake the Blues Away!”
