Sunday night’s choir concert was postponed for many reasons involving the COVID-19 pandemic. This came as a crushing blow for many students, as they have been looking forward to the concert for many months. The concert has been rescheduled for December 5, 2020.

The chair of the Department of Music and Theater, Dr. Kirk Moss, said in a statement, “The University of Northwestern Choir concert originally scheduled for Sunday, November 22, was postponed for a variety of reasons. We plan to hold the event later this week on Saturday, December 5, with a 4:00 p.m. livestream-only performance; no in-person audience.” The ticket office will be processing refunds. He stressed safety protocols the choir takes in dealing with COVID-19 to prevent any further cancellations. All members are required to wear masks while singing, remain socially distant and take tests before large events.

Students from across campus expressed their disappointment in the decision. It came as a shock to many, as they had been preparing for a while. Seth Mossberg, a junior animation major, said, “When they first announced it, I was really disappointed, especially since the performance was only 48 hours away…It really came as a shocker.” Even so, many students are thankful the concert has been rescheduled at all.
