Great songs often use the most curious yet simple source materials for inspiration and that’s the way it is with The Gray Havens new song It’s Possible. It draws upon the story of C.S. Lewis’ first visit to the esteemed city of Oxford, England. His expectations were stratospherically high but when he arrived, stepped off the train, and started walking, he quickly became disappointed. He thought something like -“this is it? Really?”
However, when he turned around, the beauty of Oxford unfolded and then he realized he was walking the wrong way away from the city he desired.
Isn’t that so much about our Christian life? We start walking the wrong way and it’s only when we turn around that we see we’ve been walking away from the One we truly seek in Christ. We see his beauty unfold and taste and see that he is good.
