Three brothers from Tuscon, Arizona used to hate music lessons. Now, with a spark from the Holy Spirit, it’s become a vocation and a band. They’re called Strings and Heart. It’s a catchy, unique blend of indie alternative that delivers a sound reminiscent of the Foo Fighters, Beach Boys, Bo Donaldson, Switchfoot, REM, Colony House and Mumford and Sons.
In an interview with Relevant Magazine the bands says the name Strings and Heart comes from Psalm 150. The Psalm says to praise the Lord with all sorts of various instruments and with everything that has breath. They add that Strings & Heart isn’t interested in being boxed into a genre. When asked how they describe themselves, they settle on “indie Christian”—a broad enough label to capture their ethos without limiting their sound.
The band also says, “The reason we make music, is for people to not only have an encounter with Jesus, but to truly follow him. We feel our generation is a generation of passion, looking for the truth. And so it excites us to share the Truth that we’ve encountered in Jesus through music.”
Their song Honeydew (Praise the Lord), and its clear references to Psalm 103 was the most played song for June.
