In today’s age we are bombarded with information. Information is everywhere, from good old fashion television, to the computer, and IPads, and to our smart phones. There is nothing that can’t escape us in this ever increasing technological world that we now live. Everywhere we go, we are slaves to what we crave. We need to see who liked what,What our favorite celebrities are doing, and of course, that funny cat meme that everyone is talking about. Now, I may be just getting older, but I’m starting to ask  myself this question each and everyday. Is any of this us? Are we truly living if our lives are on a social network. Or are we just actors, looking out for recognition, to be loved, and to be cared for.  Now, I can’t be completely blameless. I am often on Facebook, indulging in the life that I have created, a world I may call my own. I tweet until I can tweet no more. I watch cat videos to sometimes comfort my troubled mind. I remember a time in my life where I didn’t need to be connected; I didn’t need to be acknowledged by a Facebook status, or wipe away a sadness or stress by watching mindless Youtube videos. Now, I may be only twenty-one years old, but  I remember just being in comfort of loved ones was good enough, where friends communicated by talking through voices, not keyboard typing. I didn’t have to be connected to the world. I could forget it, and by forgetting I would remember who I am, and what my purpose is.

Yes, this is an informative world, but is it a world we should be totally engulfed in?  As Christians, are we taking our selves seriously if we only talk about God on the internet, or through other technological means?  Yes, I do believe God provides tools for us to use, so that we may spread the Gospel, but are we spreading  the Gospel out of helping those who don’t know Jesus, Or is it simply to get likes, so that we may be glorified in what we wrote down on our Facebook page. This struggle continues to burn in my mind. The questions of what will or might  happend next in the next ten years or twenty years, is unquestionably depressing, and quite frankly terrifying. Yet, through this, I know God will use this. Yes, he will use this to move the world.  It’s just in this present time, I just wish, and pray our generation could wake up. It could awake from it’s slumber so that God knows, that we are not simply glorifying ourselves, but yet worshiping him. I want to see a world where when we need comfort, we don’t go after social media, but rather we race, and run towards a God who wants to wipe away the tears. A God who want’s us to talk about our status; not on a social networking site, but to him, and only him.  Yes, you may call me a dreamer…but I’m not the only one.

The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you. – John 15:19
