1. Exercise (Unless You Live in Ram)

If you’re looking to reach your fitness goals this semester, why not do it while stretching your creativity! MEL Media Classes not only help you develop skills in storytelling and creative flow but also keep you physically healthy! Whether it’s walking to the MEL, setting up equipment, or exploring every hidden corner of the MEL, you’ll hit your step goals without even realizing it.

While you’re getting your sweat on, the MEL has easily accessible water fountains to keep you refreshed and ready to keep the creativity flowing. So, whether you’re walking across campus to class or working on a project, if you are searching for a fun way to stay healthy next semester, try taking a MEL Media Class.

2. Hands-On Classes

There are a ton of hands-on classes at the MEL that offer the ability to experience new technology and real-world applications. Examples include video and audio production, which respectively have you create film and sound bites that allow you to toy with recording devices and editing software.

Another class genre that gives you access to doing things yourself is the workshops. There are multiple workshops and subgroups in those workshops that meet once a week and have you produce your own media using the equipment provided at the MEL.

3. Free Stuff

People at the MEL love to order things: food, branded T-shirts and water bottles, even concert tickets. They love it so much, in fact, that they always seem to order too many… and that’s where you come in! Just by taking classes at the MEL, you’re in the prime giveaway zone.

“A friend and I were hanging around the MEL after a media class, and a lady came up to us and offered us tickets for a Casting Crowns concert. She had enough for me to take my whole family—and I’m the oldest of 5!”

-Reese G, Communications Student

The MEL doesn’t only give away physical items. Professors will offer extra points in exchange for participation in student surveys, so you’re basically getting free credit as well!

4. Access to Free Recording Equipment

Students taking media classes have access to a storeroom full of audio and film equipment. Equipment can be checked out by students via the Cheq room app or by stopping by the storeroom and making a reservation with the student worker.

Access to this equipment provides students with the opportunity to make better content, film, and media. From homework projects to passion projects, the MEL’s treasure trove of technology opens many doors for media students.
