Top song on the MEL: “It’s Possible”

When you need a new perspective on life, one of The Gray Haven’s newest songs, “It’s Possible,” reminds listeners to look at the whole picture before jumping to conclusions about life. 

“Yeah, I walked down lookin’ to the left, to the right

Didn’t see any reason to believe all the hype”

On The Gray Havens Podcast, lead band member, Dave Radford, explains that
C.S. Lewis’ first impression of Oxford, England inspired this song. Radford describes how Lewis was originally disappointed in Oxford. He got off the train and was looking for the legendary towers and spires of Oxford Univserity. Instead, he saw a dingy town. However, only when he approached the countryside did he turn around and realize he had left from the wrong side of the train station and was actually walking away from Oxford. He turned around and finally saw the beautiful city he was looking for. 

“It’s possible to see the city from the wrong side (Wrong side)

It’s possible I didn’t see it in the right light (Right)

‘Cause when I stopped and stared I didn’t see the magic

From my first time there, I admit it was a tragedy, I know

It’s possible to see the city from the wrong side, wrong side

Here we go”

This is a great message for those who feel like they need a new perspective. Turn around and see things from a new direction. It could make all the difference.
