UK-based band Cether floats to the top of MEL charts this week with their hit song Big Fish. Band members Dani, Rafa, & Damares explain that “Cether” is a word that comes from Hebrew which means “secret place.” Dani said, “I think that this is the place where our songs come from. The secret place is the place of intimacy with God and where we get to hear what God wants to say and encounter the Holy Spirit. Most of our songs are born like that; from prayers, personal experiences and things that we’ve been hearing from God.”
Big Fish is no different. It’s a prayer of hope and surrender:
“One more time. It’s the same old story.
A hopeful heart meets the world of the vain.
All that is gold does not glitter.
Sit back and watch them become the same.
Seeking to find the truth.
The ocean is so big, even when you are a big fish.
Why do we have to try to be somewhere right up there?”
