Brand-new artist to the MEL, Josh Adams, quickly rises to top MEL charts with his song Goodbye to the Scriptures. This song is a wake-up call to return to what actually gives life: God’s Word. It points out how easy it is for churches and believers to trade conviction for comfort, depth for inspiration, and truth for something that just sounds good. As the lyrics remind us:
“We don’t need motivational speech to kindle somebody’s life.
We don’t need someone younger to preach to keep the passion alive.
Oh, the Word cuts the heart and the soul and gently pierces the mind.”
The song challenges us to remember why we gather, why we worship, and what truly feeds our souls: not words that flatter, but truth that transforms.
