98.5 HD4 The Remnant wrapped up their 98-point-5 hours of Christmas on Monday. Students broadcast live, competed in various and curious challenges and raised money for Feed My Starving Children. The station set a goal of $200 and ended up raising more than $1000.
General Manager Michael Chermak says “It was amazing to receive so much support from listeners and the Northwestern community!”
Students were encouraged to sign up for as many shifts as possible with Music Director Rylie Karges hosting more than 25 hours from December 4-7. As the student with the most on-air hours, Rylie won a pair of unicorn headphones!
Students also performed some cray stunts while on-air like chair-wheelie races, impromptu song writing and ninja thumb-wrestling (or whatever was going on in the Mel between Karl Lind and Keegan Goldfarb.)
98.5 Hours of Christmas started in 2007, when Ryan “Goose” Nissley stayed on air for 97 straights hours in effort to provide warm clothing for Karen refugees arriving to the Roseville community.
