If you are like me, you are not interested in shelling out $6 a month for a streaming service you barely have time to watch. For me, Peacock streaming is the answer, and it could be for you too. (That is if you don’t already have someone’s password to the streaming service you really want!) Peacock has movies, shows and more ready to stream.
Peacock has a completely FREE subscription option (of course you can upgrade, but there’s plenty of content without doing that). The Business Insider website gave a few details about Peacock plans. There is the free subscription (with ads). Peacock Plus costs $5 and allows you to access more content. Finally, Peacock Plus Premium costs $10 but takes out all ads. Don’t let the ads worry you, I have found them to be not too obnoxious. Many of my ads are ‘Jake from State Farm’ which are honestly more fun than not.
Right now, you’re probably thinking, “Does it have anything I would actually want to watch?” My answer, after surfing around, is absolutely! A few offerings:
- the Office
- Psych
- Parks and Recreation
- The Chosen
Do I even need to say anything more?
But it doesn’t stop there. If you want to have the nostalgia of going home to Grandma’s and watching TV with her, it has that too. You can watch “Little House on the Prairie,” “The Carol Burnett Show,” “Leave it to Beaver,” “Frasier” and “Murder She Wrote”. These old classics could be the relaxing end to your day that you need.
When it comes to crime, there’s lots of shows involving mystery, crime and murder if that’s your thing. I personally enjoy the murder mystery show “Monk” which streams on Peacock. Other shows include “Chicago PD,” “Cold Case Files” and “Law and Order Criminal Intent” among other crime shows.
Some days though, I know I don’t want to be scared, or educated or anything BUT be entertained! So, for those days, Peacock has the kind of content that would have me breaking out my nail polish, face masks and chips. You know the vibe. They are movies like “The Proposal” and “Bridesmaids”, and shows such as “Project Runway,” “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and three different series of “Real Housewives of Such and Such”.
Some days though, I know I don’t want to be scared, or educated or anything BUT be entertained!
For those of you who are definitely not into content like I just mentioned, take heart. Peacock has more options. I re-watched the movie “Moneyball” just the other day. It is part of Peacock’s collection of sports and sports movies. In a totally different content direction, right now I am (slowly) working through the movie “The Help” which I have found to be an enjoyable, historically anchored movie exploring the racial injustice in Jackson, Mississippi. Finally, if you want to channel your inner boomer you can watch “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon”.
Bottom line, I want you to go and check Peacock out. Maybe your favorite show is on there … Honestly, what do you have to lose? In fact, you might SAVE money!
