Within the last few weeks, Artist Addison Agen hit third on the MEL’s top artists. Messages of truth and encouragement embedded within talented songwriting make her songs worth listening to.
Agen grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. In her youth, Agen spent significant time creating music in her room, playing in corporate worship settings, and performing in coffee shops.
“Someone told me almost ten years ago to ‘do what you can’t not do.’ Ever since then I knew singing and songwriting was how I was going to spend a huge amount of my time,” Agen explained in an interview with Bold Journey in 2024.
In 2017, Agen took second place on season 13 of The Voice as a teenager. Following this success, Agen grew in popularity through playing in large performances located in her hometown and digging deeper into songwriting and producing. Bob Seger, Gordon Lightfoot, and Liz Longley are a few names she has performed alongside in her career. Along with many other events and locations, Agen provided entertainment at The Winter Jam Tour and The Philadelphia Folk Festival. In 2024, Agen and Skye Peterson formed the band “Fielder,” and they released their complete album this past August.
Agen communicates positive messages through her lyrics and awakens attitudes of thankfulness and optimism for her listeners. While talking to Michele DeVinney from KPC News about her career in 2019, she discussed using her own life experiences to inspire her music. The examples included changes in relationships, social justice issues, and “finding peace in the chaos.” Agen stated, “I wrote a song called ‘When the Morning Comes’ because praise God no matter what is going on, the morning will always come. There’s always a new day.” (DeVinney, 2019).
