Meet Jon Haven! He is a junior Theatre major with a Public Relations minor. He hails from East Dubuque, Illinois.

You may have seen UNW’s production of Little Women last fall. While you may have enjoyed everything happening on the stage, most of the magic happens behind the scenes. This is where Jon comes in. Jon has been an Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) for four productions at UNW.

Although Jon is a Theatre major, you can occasionally spot him in the MEL due to his Public Relations minor.

“Communication has helped me as an Assistant Stage Manager because I have to communicate with various people throughout the production, manage script changes, and make sure everything is up to date.”

Jon often must make sure the cast and crew are on the same page for the production. He communicates with the cast when they are supposed to be at rehearsal. If the director needs changes to happen for the cast, Jon is the middleman. Jon also communicates the needs of the cast to the director.

“I make sure to share information with people as quickly and efficiently as possible.”

Because of Jon’s experiences in public relations and theatre, he feels equipped to work in stage management post-graduation.

Even though Jon has lots of experience backstage, you can see him appear in the cast of UNW’s upcoming production of Anything Goes. Buy your tickets today at unwtickets.com!
