“I love having music that allows me to embrace the fall season. It really shows me joy in places I don’t normally look!” -Freshman UNW Student, Ali Lehman

Being a busy student means finding time to fit what you enjoy in your busy day-to-day schedule. We all know the struggle of balancing homework, activities, sports, roommates, our faith lives, and figuring out what we want to do with our futures. It can be a lot to handle, and we might find ourselves not having time to just ‘be’.

Music is a great way to find calm in our chaos, especially the madness of the Fall semester. With fall at our doors, music that brings the mood for the season is a perfect way to incorporate a little enjoyment and peace into a busy schedule.

Students on campus were asked to pick some of their favorite fall-themed tunes and send them in. These songs are vibey and moody favorites that will have you smelling crisp autumn air and dreaming of colorful fall foliage. The compiled list had these top five songs:

  • Stick Season, Noah Kahan
  • Blackbird, The Beatles
  • Fix You, Coldplay
  • Adonai, Chris Renzema tied with Work Song, Hozier
  • All Too Well, Taylor Swift tied with Northern Attitude, Noah Kahan

As it seems, the top five quickly became the top seven. Hopefully, you can enjoy your fall season on campus a little bit more with this playlist.

Do your homework with this playlist, maybe take a walk and listen to it. Take some time for mindfulness while you listen. Mindfulness can be very beneficial for a busy college student.

Research from the National Library of Medicine says,

“…Students who use mindfulness in their daily lives or as an intervention have reported reduced anxiety and depression symptoms and healthier habits that improve overall physical health” (Rava & Hotez, 2021)

So, use this playlist to take some time to enjoy the season and practice healthy habits. Add to it, enjoy it, and take the time to explore your everyday life.
