University of Northwestern alumni live all over the world. Some are working in Hollywood, and others doing ministry overseas. Some, however, have found their calling right here on campus. UNW alum Beth Wilmeth is the head coach of the Eagles volleyball team and Assistant Athletic Director for NCAA Compliance.
Wilmeth graduated from UNW with a bachelor’s degree in communication, arts, and literature education while playing for the Eagles volleyball team. She later received her master’s degree at Minnesota State University in Athletic Administration. She became the head volleyball coach at UNW in 2004.
Wilmeth is the most decorated coach in program history. Some of her accomplishments include AVCA National Coach of the Year, AVCA Central Region Coach of the Year, eight UMAC Coach of the Year Awards, 2022 and 2016 NCAA Final Four, Sweet Sixteen, and program record for wins and winning percentage.
Wilmeth’s role as coach stretches beyond the court. Her role includes recruiting, managing the volleyball team’s social media, and scheduling. As Assistant Athletic Director for NCAA compliance, Wilmeth works closely with athletes of all sports to make sure they are eligible to compete.
This fall season will be Wilmeth’s 20th year as the head volleyball coach. Watch Wilmeth and the Eagles compete this fall. Schedule coming soon to unweagles.com.
