Communication Department Chair and Media Production Professor Mark Seignious joined a panel at the 2023 Minnesota Broadcasters Association on Tuesday October 3. The panel shared how the media broadcast industry can better engage the next generation and help create more interest and excitement toward a career path in radio and TV.
Career opportunities in media have moved beyond the typical traditional media job found in broadcast media. More and more companies have started thinking more strategically like a media company- delivering content to their customers and consumers. Companies like United Healthgroup, Medtronic and 3M have developed media production departments and that has opened up more career paths for students.
According to several research reports, consumer demand for media content (podcasts, video, etc) has showed continued growth. The Wyzowl research group says that 92% of companies that produce media content show a good ROI (Return on Investment).
